Hi, I'm Yelena
It's nice to meet you
INSPIRATION
I founded Meditation Compass to help fellow digital nomads tune into their true essence while traveling and increase their appreciation of their inner world and the beauty of the world around them. During my travels, neglecting meditation and yoga left me feeling discouraged and uninspired, despite being in the most beautiful places on earth. Once I got home and started meditating again, I remembered that feeling happy doesn’t have so much to do with where we are externally but so much more to do with our internal state. Meditation helps us achieve that internal well-being and maintain our happiness. This, in turn, allows us to enjoy our external world more and appreciate the places we are traveling to. However, it can be hard to maintain a consistent mindfulness practice while on the road. Through my coaching and courses, I hope to teach fellow travelers how to find moments of meditative peace.
EXPERIENCE
My meditation journey spans over 10 years of yoga and meditation practice, with a focus on Lorin Roche's instinctive meditation techniques, and inspired by the Radiance Sutras and Meditation Made Easy. These teachings have shaped my approach to free-flowing meditation and movement practices. I have also studied with numerous yoga instructors including Shiva Rea, Trancey Lanham, Heather Lindeman, and Dawn Cartwright. In 2013, I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training in Denver, CO. My travels have led me to yoga retreats and immersive studies, practicing in diverse locations such as the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, ancient temples of Delphi, Greece, eucalyptus forests in Australia, and the cliffs of Esalen in Big Sur, California. Throughout these travels, meditation has been a constant companion, sustaining my spirit. Engaging in group yoga classes in foreign countries provided a beautiful window into the daily lives of both locals and travelers, fostering connections and allowing me to share in their daily bliss.
PHILOSOPHY
Meditation is a natural state that all of us have access to. It is as natural as sleeping or being awake. It does not require any special beliefs, styles of life, or commitments. There are no prerequisites. In fact, one of the easiest ways to enter into meditation is to luxuriate in what we love. Meditation is instinctive and we have all had moments where we entered into a meditative state spontaneously without even realizing it. This may have been when we were dancing, doing yoga, listening to music, creating art, or doing something else that we absolutely love. The goal of this meditation practice is to teach you how to enter into meditation on a regular basis so you can receive it’s benefits consistently. Much of my meditation practice has been inspired by the works of Lorin Roche, in particular his books The Radiance Sutras and Mediation Made Easy.
